One of the key members of the MJBizDaily leadership, Chris Walsh, the companyโs CEO, announced he's stepping down from the organization. Walsh was the founding editor or MJBizDaily and most recently served as the organizations CEO is leaving after a decade at the company. It comes almost exactly a year after MJBiz was acquired and a month after MJBizConโs successful annual conference. We as a Dutchie, and me personally, wish him well.
New York continues to gear up for adult-use cannabis sales, perhaps as soon as next week. Governor Kathy Hochul unveiled a QR-code system for stores and products that can authenticate the legal and regulated from the gray market and unregulated. Theory Wellness is seeking social equity applicants for corporate support. Applicants can apply to Theory Wellness for support and sponsorship and in return, could be the recipient of zero-interest financing and $150,000 worth of startup cannabis inventory as well as other infrastructure-type support from Theory Wellness.
Moving from the Northeast to the South, where Alabama has announced that the University of South Alabama will score and recommend licensees from the licensing process that is currently open for medical dispensaries. Medical sales in the state are due to begin in late 2023, according to MJBizDaily.

Following a November election, Missouri is racing towards adult-use. The state already has a huge medical cannabis program, with over 200,000 patients. And right now, we're in the midst of a 90-day timeline toward authorizing recreational dispensaries.
