Kentucky does not have an established cannabis program. Effective January, 2023 Governor Andy Beshear signed an executive order pardoning medical cannabis patients who have a written certification from their physician, and lawfully purchased cannabis outside the state of Kentucky.
Operators are not permitted to conduct cannabis sales in the state of Kentucky. As Kentucky does not have a program to regulate cannabis sales in-state, no inventory management software has been selected.
Per the Governor’s executive order, medical cannabis patients may legally possess an amount allowed in the jurisdiction from which they make their original purchase, but not exceeding 8 ounces.
As Kentucky does not permit the direct sale of cannabis within the state, no established tax rates exist at this time.
Cannabis delivery is not permitted in the state of Kentucky.
According to the Medical Cannabis Advisory Committee, Kentuckians show high levels of support for a medical cannabis program in the state.
