SAFE Banking to Get Senate Banking Committee Mark Up

There has been a flurry of activity in DC. A few weeks back we had the recommendation of the Department of Health and Human Services to reschedule cannabis from Schedule 1 to Schedule 3. That recommendation is now with the Drug Enforcement Agency. But there is also movement on SAFE Banking, although it’s now been renamed to SAFER Banking. MORE Act Gets Reintroduced in US House of Representatives

The MORE Act was re-introduced in the House by Democrat Jerry Nadler of New York. Nadler is the ranking member in the House Judiciary Committee and the MORE Act stands for the Marijuana Opportunity, Reinvestment and Expungement - which would deschedule cannabis altogether. https://www.cannabisbusinesstimes.com/news/more-act-introduced-federal-cannabis-legalization-house-democrats/

Minnesota’s New Cannabis Regulator Named

At the beginning of August, Minnesota’s legalization measure went into effect, but really without the industry fully set up. Back then, Vicente’s Jason Tarasek in the Twin Cities shared that one of the big next steps was who was going to lead the Office of Cannabis Management.
