Welcome to the recap of Episode 20 of This Week in Cannabis News.

Here’s what you need to know this week

Dutchie

You may have seen that there has been a leadership change at Dutchie. Last week, we announced that the Company’s Board of Directors appointed Tim Barash as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, while Co-founders Ross and Zach Lipson departed after a long tenure of driving growth, passion, and innovation in the cannabis industry.

Tim, our new Chairman and CEO, said this last week:

β€œThe cannabis industry has been through a wild run of ups and downs as it has evolved over the past few years. I am deeply committed to helping our customers, our team, and our partners navigate the challenges of this exciting and dynamic space while advancing our mission to create safe and easy access to cannabis. On a personal level, I am proud of what the team has built at Dutchie, and am humbled to serve them as we set the company up for long term success.”

Now, on to U.S. cannabis market updates.

U.S. cannabis market updates

Last Tuesday was Giving Tuesdayβ€”and Dutchie was supporting Last Prisoner Project. You can check out our two interviews with Last Prisoner Project constituents on our LinkedIn page right now. And, Dutchie is matching LPP contributions up to a million dollars… follow our progress toward that goal.

Nevada consumption lounges

The cannabis industry just got back from Nevada… but next time we’re there, they’ll likely be cannabis lounges. That’s because regulators announced there will be a lottery for the first 20 independent cannabis lounges in that state - half for social equity applicants.

Connecticut adult-use cannabis won’t open

And from one state that is known for fun, to... well, Connecticut, which is largely known as being the insurance capital of America. Connecticut's rollout of adult-use cannabis is unfortunately delayed. It was meant to be open this year, but it looks more likely that 2023 openings are on the horizon.

But next door in Rhode Island…

In neighboring Rhode Island, adult use sales have begun! Kudos to friends of Dutchie: Aura of Rhode Island in Central Falls, Greenleaf Compassionate Care Center, Portsmouth, Mother Earth Wellness, Pawtucket, and Rise, Warwick for opening their doors yesterday.
