The Buckeye State did it. Ohio voted to legalize adult-use cannabis on Tuesday. It was reported in yesterday’s Cincinnati Enquirer that Republican Governor Mike DeWine, who was against the measure, said, We are going to see that they have that, but we've also got to live up to our responsibility to all the people in the state of Ohio, whether they voted for it or voted against it ... that we do this in a very responsible way, we do it in a respectful way. And we do it, frankly, the Ohio way."
No sooner did Ohio pass the cannabis legalization ballot measure than Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro’s spokesperson said the vote was “another reminder this is something we should get done in Pennsylvania.”
This week, Missouri celebrated the 1-year anniversary of their successful vote for legalization. Over $950 million in sales since they went live in February.
This week the Florida State Supreme Court heard arguments in the case that will allow - or not - a legalization ballot measure to proceed next year in Florida. Recall that Attorney General Ashley Moody is arguing that the measure should NOT be on next year’s ballot and the case is being heard as we speak.
We connected with Bryan Barash to talk about what the Ohio election means for cannabis in Ohio - but also in DC and beyond.
